Label position

I received a program from a customer and the labels in the graphics window seem to be 'auto-arranging', positoned around the perimeter of the window. How do I turn this off? I know I've seen something about this in the past but I can't find it.

I'am running 3.5mr2.....Go to edit, preference, set-up
un-check automatic label positioning

Are wanting to stop the autopositioning, if so, do as bw bob says above.
If you want to turn them off, you can do this under the edit / graphic display window / feature appearance.
Here you can select / deselect the featrues that you would like to appear, or,
you can right click on one of your feature labels and select "hide ID" or "hide IDs All".

Yeah, I use that stuff regularly, but I couldn't get the auto-postioning thingy off.
