  • Linear Closed Scan...

Maybe you all can help me out a little bit. Why is it that sometimes when I program a linear closed scan it comes back and tells me that it cannot find the part? I've never figured this out. It's usually when it approaches a radial feature. I've found that sometimes if I use a much tighter increment that it will find it but I really don't want to use an increment of 0.5mm. Any ideas? Thanks in advance...

I think you answred you're own question. I believe that at a larger increment it passes the CAD data that it may need for a particular point and when it can't find CAD, gives you the message. However when a tighter increment is used you are more likely to be near some CAD info that DMIS can use?

You can use VARIABLE increment. It will space the point way apart (to the limit you set) for straight sections then tighten up on radii.

Thanks guys.... I thought that might be it... Matt, I am using the variable setting rather than line and am still having a hard time getting around the radii. The smallest increment that I can get away with is 1.25mm. I'll just have to delete every other point or something like that. Can you believe that I have an engineer that doesn't want to much data?..... Go figure! Thanks again for your quick replies.
