  • Hexagon SMA Day

    Hi Guys,

Just a quick question. Has anyone been to one of these, are they worth going to? Especially considering I am still relatively new to CMM's and inspection.

    Thanks in advance

Think of it as a mini presentation day.
They have had some use in the past if you are upgrading or have general questions.

The new style (for the last couple of years) is to have 5 or 6 presenters doing half hour slots or thereabouts.

There might be bits and pieces that are of no interest, but there might just also be some good stuff, especially if you're new to PC-Dmis; give you an idea of what can be done with the software (you probably won't be able to go away and do it just like that though).

Also a good time for Q&A's if you've got any "how do you do this?" or "why does this happen?" type questions.

Plus the food's usually pretty decent.

In the UK Hexagon put on 'training seminars' as part of the software contract purchase, basically what I described above.

Typically there might be topics such as

              Alignments
              Reporting
New Features in the latest version
              Tips and tricks
              Scanning
              Assignment/flow control

They used to just be big days out somewhere fancy with a couple of presentations and some activities - we moved them to 'training days' at Tech centres a couple of years ago.

There were two a year but you get the same people coming back and it gets difficult to think of something original to show them, especially as you've only got half an hour or so.

They're generally very well received though.

good for you....here where I live, we have a situation where a seller (importer) sells the CMMs without the proper training. Well, he just offers some basic training from another subcontractor. They never heard of workbooks or they never give us any workbooks.

We (Hexagon Metrology Nordic AB, former C.E. Johansson) hold a "PC-DMIS day" (at least) once a year. Free for SMA holders, fee for others. Much the same as already described.

Well, I don't believe the USA gets anything anyways.

There is always the Hexagon Conference.

Corelex, you need more than one user in the country to have "user group" meeting
