  • Vectors changed???????????

I wrote a program last night for a part. And came in this morning to run the samples that they made, and all of my I,J,K Vector directions have changed.

The program consisted of importing an iges file, and simply taking points around a cut out section according to the CAD data. The vectors were straight lines in I, & J. Some of the vectors have actually been changed to K. Any Idea what could have happened.

    I'm running 3.7 MR1

What type of Alignment did you use?

I aligned the 2 datum holes along XPLUS, and leveled to the surface of the part. Had to offset the origin to match the Cad. Then imported the iges and CAD = Part. (Looked Fine)

I have had some of the same problems while writing programs. While measuring lines on a Cad model/part the line will be generated inside the part. I type in the correct vectors while at that feature. It a pain in rear but has not been a show stopper. Will see what happens by 4.0MR3.

I had that same problem in 3.7MR1 and MR2 with the auto line feature. I removed it from the toolbar and now I construct lines out of vector points and I have had fewer problems since. I've had no problems so far in MR3 with that.

Make sure that the line direction is the same during manual and DCC alignments. E.g. If it was taken L to R writing the program, it is taken L to R during DCC execution. I had the same issue recently, and that was the problem on that occassion.

Checked that first thing this morning. It was ok. Don't understand what happened. I ended up rewriting it. And manually typed in the cad coordinates from the print out I had from last night. Didn't have time to analyze it any further. Seems to be working fine now. Still would like to know what happened.
