  • Reporting V4.1 GridControlObject

    Hi guys,

I am hoping that someone has been hacking around with the reporting in 4.1. I am having problems displaying a simple variable value in a cell contained in a GridControlObject.

I have a lot of variables that I need to display in individual cells. The problem is that when I put a variable in the cell it only displays as text, any expression I type to display a variable in the expression box is what I see(=<VariableName>, etc...). In another GridControlObject I have put an expression to display the current date and it worked just fine. I have tried every type of syntax I can come up to have it recognized as an expression but still when I try to display a simple variable value it always displays as text.

I have talked with Tech Support but no answers yet.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance,
    Mike

Old style reporting would be tough with this application. I would have to concatenate all the strings/variables. not to mention formatting columns and rows.

I know the V4.1 type of reporting will be great for many complex forms and reports,

but getting it to work correctly?

i wasn;t sure if that would help you.

have you tried messing with the template editor?

Thanks for your suggetion \v/. I've had a lot of success with the new reporting system templates. Everything has worked well up until this glitch. I'm hoping I can get past this fairly quickly and finish this program.

          Thanks again

Mike, to my knowledge the new Reporting Expression Language doesn't support variables like you're thinking of doing. There are still a variety of functions and ways to get at information you may need. What are you trying to do exactly, maybe there's a different way of accomplishing it?
