Ok then.....Say the cykinder is in the Z axis (straight up & down)
The Z nominal is were your surface starts. If i'm not mistaken for an ID.

Actually the model shown is NOT from the part I am referencing. The part in question has no modelSo the verification method you gave won't help. And also there are not any sample hit being taken. Should this method be used all the time when picking up a cylinder?

Are you using sample hits on the cylinder. If you are then your entending from were your sample hits surface is. You are using a model so i would look to see were your surface is for the cylinder. My .02

Extended Length
OK, I have a quick question for all the brains out there.
I am checking the perpindicularity of a shaft hole back to a plane. The cylinder is in the bottom of a pocket. I am currently using the extended length to project the cylinder up to my plane (A datum) The extended length that I am entering is the length of the shaft that goes into the cylinder (this length is the depth of my cylinder PLUS the amount needed to bring it up to my plane) Hopefully my picture will show what I mean.
I want to know for sure that when I extend the length, it is projecting it up to my A datum, my leveled plane. Am I assuming correctly? ( I hate ASSuming)Last edited by Sl33stak; 11-01-2006, 10:39 AM.Tags: None
