  • Leveling 2 planes

Is there a way to level to planes? I can take a hood hinge part on the surface plate and I want to level the body half to the hood half. I clamp the body half to a angle plate then I level the hood half by running a indicator across it until it is level then I measure to the angle plate and take my reading. I would like to know if there is anyway of doing this on the cmm. The only way I can think of doing it is by leveling it first then run a program. I have tried different things on the cmm but nothing seems to be right. I maybe asking this software to do to much. I am using 3.5mr2.

    Thanks for the help

Level to two planes is very simple:
primary plane level in direction of axis. ie: hits moving down = Z+
secondary plane 90 to primary plane rotate to direction of axis about primary axis. ie: hits moving left to right = X-, about Z+
    ok?

A live action loop may help you manually level this. Take the hits to check, then run those through a loop & adjust each time. Use the comment at the front of the loop to stop & let you adjust.
