square slot issue

I'm running 4.0 and am having an issue with checking a square slot stud.The width checks fine but the length is checking to large by approx 4mm.I'm using a 2mm ball.The only way that i can get the length to check properly is as a round slot.then of coarse the width is off.Using auto slot by the way.

Presumably you have used height gage, micrometers, calipers, pins, blocks, etc. to determine whether the issue is the CMM/software or a discrepant part. . .

Have you tried creating vector points, lines, or planes and dimensioning 2D distances between them?

Could it be that PC-DMIS thinks you are measuring a square slot HOLE instead of STUD?

th e pin measures fine with mics.

How did you output the width? Dim Loc only allows X,Y,Z,R,L for a slot?

If it measure the slot correctly, you could make generic points and find the distance.

In the CODE section, see "Retrieving hits from a feature" (Basic Script)

This will make generic points from a measured feature which you can manipulate however you want.

sounds like a probing issue....improper vector will result in confusion between O.D. and I.D.

D reports the "width" of a slot, L reports the length, LF and DF for TP of a slot.
