  • Using Star probe

I want to use a star probe but I have no idea how to : create one, pick components and also calibrate one.
I went to the CMM level 1 & 2 but they never showed in detail on how to construct a star probe.
Any one has a learning source or something.?

Multiple multiple threads on this, do a search. It's not terribly different from a normal probe.

Use the Probe description area to define the star probe. For example if a 5-way extension is added, Pcdmis offers 5 empty connections.
Fill any or all of the needed connections. Pcdmis will always measure the lowest tip first (lowest in the Z axis).

            Hope it helps.

The tips of the star are numbered 1-5. T1 is pointing straight down at A0B0. If you rotate the PH10 to A0B90 and look at it end-on, T2 is at 3:00, T3 at 6:00, T4 at 9:00, and T5 at 12:00. To use tip 5 at A45B90, it would be T5A45B90.

These are higher level actions you are attempting. I see you are using 4.3mr1? If your SMA is current please contact the Technical Support folks for further clarification, 1-800-343-7933. I did when I needed to learn how to qualify a star probe.

If it doesn't work check what you did, it works. May need to increase prehit and retract distances.
