the GD&T is totally revamped (but you can toggle the old style).
the reporting is totally revamped the reports look nice but you can't edit anything (there is a way to use the old style plain text reports which requires you to change a registry setting)
and a few new bell and whistles...

Still experimenting with this on our offline machine. Not a real fan of the reporting changes, preferred the button for report mode that no longer exists.
I'm not comfortable putting on the machine until we work through it for a little while longer maybe 4.1 mr 3"A good design is the one that allows engineers the ability to change gracefully what they forgot to do right the first time!!!"

We just tried 4.1, Found DCI now works for the most part.
I can read in a R16 .CATProduct (Catia Assembly)
This is what we've been waiting for.
Problem is, how it comes in differs each time,
if I bring it in with another program already open, I get less of the assembly.
I believe this may be a memory issue, but we have 3 gigs RAM and 3 gigs paging memory and I don't think we can go much higher.
The features they added for manipulation of assemblies appear to be a step in the right direction, can hide various details in the assembly which is nice and they added panel that attempts to access each components individual coordinate reference system, but when I try to "create" in this panel, I get dumped out.
(Where their headed looks good, they're just not there yet)
I am not sure if we can use 4.1 yet, we may, but if so, may have to limit how we use it (still will not be able to bring in whole assemblies)

mmm PC-DMIS 4.1
Yeah not too dam bad. I have only had the occasional "blue screen of death"(pcdlrn error). I would say I have had as many/few as when using 3.7MR3. The benets of 4.1 over 3.7MR3 are...
The CAD engines are superb (but do not save back and forth from3.7 to 4.1 you will get a doubling of CAD size each time you do it, at least that was happening with the beta version I has been using).
The report templates(the stock ones) work quite well.
I haven't yet started dabbling with my own.
Nice SOLIDWORKS type of icons(+x,-x,+y,-y,+z,0-z toolbar is really cool)
Almost all auto-features are one click.
Scanning dialogue takes a little getting used to(slight changes to usage)
That's all I can think of for now. I can post more if questions warrant it.sigpic

Downloaded 4.1 from WAI on Thursday morning, and I have been used it all day and all day today. So far it seems good (better than 4.0 anyway). . On the new style text only report it gives you the option of not printing the background colours, which should save a whole load of ink. If you right click on the report you can get it back to the old style of text report.
If you have time to play around with it, my opinion is to get on your machine. No point in paying for SMA's if you're not going to use the latest version. I like many of the aspects of the latest version, but cannot live with the reporting.... I need the old style.Lately, it occurs to me
What a long, strange trip it's been.

Whats that suppose to mean. Are you dissing me......[/QUOTE]
Sorry Bob, no way I would diss you. A bob is slang for an old English shilling, which I can just about remember. The equivalent US saying would be "My two cents worth" I think
