  • WOOOHH WHOOOOO, I mirrored my first program...

Just bragging I guess. I'm kind of proud that I actually mirrored my first program. I don't even think I ever accomplished that in the 2 years that I ran Avail or the 6 years that I ran MMIV ! Granted PC-DMIS can be a BEAR at times, it's ten times better than any of the other stuff I've ran...

    Have a GREAT WEEKEND everyone ! ! !

    Cool....

Great... I've only had the opportunity to mirror one program so far and was pretty pleased myself. I ran AVAIL for 15 years before pc-dmis... I agree, pc-dmis is aggravating at times, but leaps and bounds above what I used to use....

Wow, you ran that for 15 years... I guess it was already an older software when we finally purchased a new machine. I just didn't understand why our "powers to be" didn't purchase a newer software like MMIV. Wasn't PC-DMIS around back then (1996)? How long have you been running PC-DMIS? It's been a lil' over 2 years for me...

        AVAIL

It would be closer to 13 years, we've had pc-dmis for 2 years now. I started on a manual B&S Validator back in 1986 using a HP computer and software I don't remember what it was called. I thought it was great when we had the thing retrofitted for dcc... We bought a B&S XCEL 12-20-10 in 1991 with AVAIL software. We did try pc-dmis (dos) for awhile but my boss decided to stick with AVAIL. Like I said, pc-dmis can be aggravating at times, but seeing what I'm used to using, this stuff is great! Editing a program and debugging in AVAIL was terrible.... took really really long. I hated that you always had to edit all the vectors to get good readings.

We have come a long way.. yeehaaa

          PS

PS... I guess I'm still using AVAIL.... I have hundreds of programs that I still have not re-programmed in pc-dmis. 15 years and running, just no longer programming in AVAIL.

That software was either VAl-MEAS 200 or VAL-MEAS 300, I remember it, it was a royal pain.

I actually started on a Sheffield Cordax 1808 (manual) with OFI3Plus and a 386 pc and 4 megs of ram. Wow, how things have changed...

All of them except for the very first probe angle. It was kind of weird, but the first probe angle came up @ 90, 180 when it should have simply been 0, 0 ? ? ? That was an easy fix though...

ya i think i mirrored like four programs last week, the more you do it the easier it gets. i belive there are only three steps.

                        chose program to mirror
                        save mirrored program as
                        fix tip angles

                          pretty easy stuff

Once you get used to it, mirroring is pretty easy. Just have to remember to check tip rotations. Seems like about 90% of my parts are RH/LH, so the mirror comes in REAL handy. Huge time savings, also.

Mirroring is a great timesaver. To save even more time I, whenever possible, delay the mirroring of a program as long as possible. If time/schedule permit I want to do all my corrections/improvements of the original program first, eliminating making edits to BOTH programs as much as possible.

                              ME TOO

I would like to thank ya'll for these post. I just learned how to mirror my first part. I did have to adjust the probe angles. Once this was done, It worked great. Made my life a lot less hectic. I do alot of As-Shown and Opposites. Now that I learned a new trick, It will speed things along. Once again thanks for the great info on here.
