I have had it quite a few times, when am writing programs every half hour save file with 001, 002 on end etc that way u can go back to prev version....learned from experience
I guess when you say save save save, you mean saveAS save AS. Cuz I DO save after every 2 or three features (ctrl+S). That saves as current file name. Do save so I can have a backup, I'll have to save AS a new name. That's a pain in the ****.

You may want to check you video drivers and directX, also clean up the desktop area for shortcuts as they do affect the video cards processing speeds. Treat Pc-Dmis like you favorite on-line video game and it will be pretty stable. I don't have a whole lot of problems with 3.7 mr3. This really the most stable .Prg B&S has ever released.
Has anyone else tried to open this program? I would be willing to take a look. Send it zipped to [email protected]. I don't promise anything, but if no one has tried opening it other than yourself, it can't hurt right?

Yes, I will save as partmaster, thats after I get a good alignment and all, I will save as partmaster2, then as I go I save I will just save, and if I come to a something tricky I will add a three. This give me options later if needed. Then at the end delete what I dont want. Maybe I dont have to an it might be a bit anal, but thats how I do it. I never use autosave.
I have had a similar issue on 3 machines. I am not sure that my solution worked, but,.....
We work on individual machines. The part programs are on a "server" machine. For a while, we would have network 'hiccups'. There was some relationship in timing for this. We have not experienced it for a while, but I had forced the IT dept. to make sure we and the server were all on the same switch. Just a thought.
Another thought, if save as doesn't have a shortcut set one up - you could even make it ctrl+s if you like. Then you just need two file names. pnxxxxA and pnxxxxB put them both in the same folder and make them the only thing in that folder. Then when you hit your shortcut keys you just click on one name and save. Then next time click the other name and save. It will probably come up with a warning about replacing the file already named that.
Not perfect but total you would have one shortcut key combo and three mouse clicks. At least it eliminates the typing.
You could do more than two names if you so desire. I would set them up when you start the program keep from having to move your right hand back and forth from the mouse to keyboard in order to type.
Another thought might be to have a backup external from pc-dmis. Not sure this would work but some VB guys might be able to come up with something to do a timed external backup of a program which appends a number on the end. Just a thought - might not work if the program is open in pc-dmis though.

I have the same thing happen to me all the time! As we all know, PC-DMIS hangs up a lot. But if it hangs during a save, the file-to-be-saved becomes unreadable and you have to go to an earlier version.
I am now also in the habit of saving as. That serialization issue happens to me at least once a week.
I can not reproduce it. It just happens when you hit File/Save.
This is a pain pain pain pain....

Thanks for the willingness to help James, but I deleted it and started over again.
I'm almost thru with the program, and yes, I'm doing a save-as, along with ctrl+s, so I have two copies.

Here's something that's popped up recently: I'm running 3.7mr3 on Sheffield RS70s and RS30 (although this happens off-line and should have no bearing...
Got a supplier that is having problems with programs that have been saved back from 3.7MR3 to V3.2063. I have done this several times for them and have...
