  • Datapage ? data base? what's the best way to utilize options ???

Again, I'm a newbie. I'm getting the hang of simple programming and handling
results so here's the question for the moment. What's the best way to teach myself to use the other data handling options with PC-DMIS as the full report
isn't useful for my inspection reports? I have used simple spc type applications
to send electronic gage readings to excel, but it's still seems like magic rather than programming to me. This is a huge subject but I'm looking
for the basics for self- learning.

I use Datapage. If you have used other spc applications & can use help files you'll probably pick it up quickly.

      More info please...

Can you elaborate a little on what you need to do? Also version of software? Anything special one should know to answer your question? e.g. SP600, SP80, is this for a capabilty study? Are you aware of HYPER-REPORTING? Again, in order to be of help, more info is required.

Datapage is a Database type application, that works very well to get things into Excel. Being a database program, its a bit fickle and you need to get some quick training to utilize it properly, half a day is usually suffice.

there are a number of charts you can use to diplay your statistics, i prefer the bar and whisker chart, you can also use a multi chart that can have (i think) up to four differnet charts on it (ie. histogram, bar and whisker, pareto, run chart, taget plot).

then you can customise what stats you want to report:

          PP%
          Pr
          Pp
          Ppk
          PC%
          Cr
          Cp
          Cpk
          Nominal
          LSL
          USL
          Mean Deviation
          Mean
          Est Sigma
          Sigma
          3 Sigma
          6 Sigma
          UCL
          LCL
          Actual Low
          Actual High
          Est Low
          Est High
          % Out Spec
          % Est Out Spec
          In Control
          Ppk Capable
          Cpk Capable
          25th Quartile
          Median
          75th Quatile
          Range
          Skewness
          Kurtosis
          Upper Tol
          Lower Tol
          High Deviation
          Low Deviation

you can output the raw data if you like and you can output these to a .pdf file.

Sooner or later I hope to quit apologising for being a newbie.
I need to produce excel type reports with dims listed in cells with feature idents and tolerances at the column heads. This has got to be better than the 342 pages of "full report" outputs from my printer from 43 parts. I need to figure out how to archive entire program runs so that if I miss something I can go back into the program and adjust things to get the data I need without re-running the physical inspection. I need to study hyper reporting also to see what I can do with it. In my original post I was hoping for hint as to how to figure this all out but it's clear to my now that I need to look at each option for reporting individually to see what it's good for.

in datapage you can save your data as a txt document and then rename it to xls and it will create an excel file. i think there is another way to do it also that was recently disscused on this forum.

                Hyper reporting

                Howdy,
I need to know more about hyper reporting. I am at an older shop where they are barely out the stone age. (CMM ain't that a news station?)
I do have PC Demis 3.5 MR 1. We make a lot of spares for older Boeing aircraft and I have to use an ansi form for first articals. It would be so nice to import the form and assign the results to the approrite boxes. Can this be done. Now I'm running the program printing the results then transfering them with a pen. What a waste of time.

I think you would be better trying to get an excel version of the form and exporting with the script on the wilcox site at least copy and paste to a form would be much easier

Mostly set up sheets work instructions. I guess if you get real into it you could do all your reporting but not worth the effort. Also the newer versions do not support hyper reports (edits anyway)

Frustrating you to no end, and they do away with it in newer versions of the demon, stick with Excel.

Datapage has several options reporting data collected additional to charting.

Open Datapage goto Reports drop down, there you will find several formats.
Choose what suits best ie. Raw Data, Measurement, PPAP, Assignable Causes, Trace, Stats, etc....

Datapage works seamless with PC-DMIS - once your in DPage just need to figure out what you need.

Datapage, is the way to go for storing the reports, you can pull from a single report or study groups. It takes a little to get to know it, but once you figure it out it is pretty good. 100pcs cap studies then export as a .xls then drop it into minitab. Also if I get a bad hit I rerun the parts and edit the report in dataview, then delete the new run and clean up the data without having to whip anything. The bar and whisker charts are a very "rich" way to look at data.

This is exacaly what I do. Works perfect. I send all my data to datapage, dump out to excel and format worksheet the way I want my end result to look like and write a macro to do the copy and pasting to the formatted worksheet. I run multiple parts for everything I do so when I report they want all the parts for the run on 1 report and usually on 1 page. Datapage will dump out as columns and rows, works great for this type of reporting. I you need any help pm me. I will do what I can.
