  • feature control frame trihedron outta whack!

I just received version 4.0 of pc dmis and installed it. However the feature control frame trihedron, does not match the part current alignment trihedron.
The part current alignment trihedron has x going left to right. Y is going away from you and z is coming straight out of the table. The fcf trihedron is pointing z in the y direction, x in the z direction, and y in the x direction. This is giving me some funky numbers in the fcf box, and is taking a number that is in the x direction and saying it is in the y direction on the report and such.
Thanks, any help would be appreciated.

Well, 3.7 mr3, at the splash screen, click edit, click machine interface setup, click axis tab and correct the axes. I think that'll get you going.

Are you using CAD? Look at what you leveled an rotated to in your alignment.

Other than what Paul said, are you speaking of the target plot associated with the true position? If you are speaking of the target plot it is work plane dependent. I learned this while working with DATPAGE, it too is workplane dependent. I may be missing something as I haven't seen a trihedron associated with the FCF(Feature Cntrol Frame). It should be noted that I am normally using Legacy reporting.

          fcf trihedron

          I have the same problem.
          called tech. support.
Informed them of the problem I was having.

          emailed program to look over.
got a call back stating that there was no problem with program.
          they could not repoduce it.

          currently using old style tp.

tking, I went to the edit window, and under the axis tab, the x y z axis's matched x y and z. No luck there, any other ideas??

James Mannes, the part that is manually probed has a part current alignment, it is the little trihedron with the x y and z axis, in red, the same xyz that is used to make an alignment. When legacy dimensions are used, and I was using a true position dimension, there appears in the same window as the part is, a littler feature control frame trihedron. I believe that these two trihedrons are supposed to be pointing in the same directions, however, mine are not. On the fcf trihedron, x is z, z is y, and y is x.
