  • Version 4.0 help

I have been using version 4.0 and so far no real bugs.
The application person at B&S has not been able to figure out how to help me.
I have been trying to figure out on the reports to change the color on the comments. Its seems that the report I am using has a light blue default. for comments. You cant hardly read it. Can anyone help..
    Thanks.

Yeah, I just PM'd Jared Hess (Hexagon) earlier this morning, in hopes that he can help me with the same issue. I will let you know when he gets back to me.

        Hi all,

Got your PM James. I just had to re-aquaint myself with how to do this before posting.

First off, in 4.0 selecting Edit | Preferences | Edit Window Colors will change the comment color, but only for the Edit Window, not the Report. This is because in 4.0, reports show up in their own Reporting window, not in the Edit window. However, a similar looking dialog is accessed to change it for the Report.

Here's the skinny on how to do this in 4.0. I assume that you are modifying the default standard template textonly.rtp. I know this looks complicated, but it really isn't; I'm just trying to be thorough:

        Step 1
        - Make sure your report template has the read-only property removed.

Note: The Read-only property is enabled to protect you from inadvertantly changing the standard templates that come with PC-DMIS, so I suggest that you backup your entire Reporting subdirectory before making changes to the templates therein.
        1. After making a backup, right-click on the TextOnly.rtp file in Windows Explorer and select Properties.
        2. Clear the Read-Only check box.
Step 2 - Open the template in the Report Template Editor.
        1. Select File | Reporting | Edit | Report Template.
        2. In the Open dialog, navigate to the Reporting directory and select TextOnly.rtp, and click Open. The Report Template editor opens showing the TextOnly.rtp template.
Step 3 - Change the comment color.
        1. Select the TextReportObject in the Editor that shows the dummy data, and then right-click on it. The Properties dialog will appear.
        2. Click on the Colors property.
        3. A dialog box may appear asking if you want to create a color set different from the application color set, if so, click Yes. The Color Editor dialog box appears (see attached thumbnail).
        4. Select Comment from the Command Text Colors list.
        5. Then where it says Marked Color click the Edit button. A standard Color dialog box appears.
        6. Select a new color.
        7. Click OK to close the Color dialog box.
Step 4 - Save and Test your changes.
        1. When finished changing your colors, click OK to close the Color Editor.
        2. Select File | Save to save your report template.
        3. Close the report template editor and open up your Report window. Re-execute your part program, or click the Redraw the Report icon.
You should see your comments in your report using the new color.
