  • Installation problem

    Good morning,
I am running 3.5MR2 on DEA BETA SP with DEA controller. I had to change the computer and I run into problem trying to install PC-DMIS on the new computer - can not install HASP drivers. I attached two pictures. The first one is showing sequence of installation messages with an error and the second is showing the message I am getting by trying to run hinstall.exe.
I don't have SMA. I talk to Tech. Support last night and they could not find the solution. I shut down second shift and now it is 7:00 am and I still did not hear anything from Tech. Support.

    Please, help.
    Thank you,

You probably need new HASP drivers. You should be able to find one here. http://www.aladdin.com/support/hasp/hasp4/enduser.asp

good link scott....however the necessary drivers are always included in the installation procedure and should work fine......unless its another enhancement technique

Yes, the latest hasp driver available through aladin should fix your problem. There is an issue with XP and the previous hasp drivers but I recently used this on my DEA and it worked fine with 3.5 MR2.

Good Idea to unzip the hinstall.exe file to your C: drive then run the C:\hinstall.exe -r from the command prompt before doing the install just to save yourself any inconveniences that could come up from trying to do the last install.

It might work fine with the version of Windows that was out at the time of release. If his Windows version or SP is later than the release date of his software then the driver that comes with the software may not be compatable. This is likely the issue he is facing now.

This is normally true, but, since Windows XP SP2, the HASP drive included in the 3.5 MR2 installation disc does not work alot of the time. I think this was corrected in the 3.7 MR3 release.

Wait all night to find out they can't do nothing for you. That stinks. Maybe they should hire a few of us to be tech support!!!!!!!!!!!!! With modern technology I could stay home all day in my Speed Racer footie PJs and take your phone calls. It would be so easy if the B&S receptionist would route the calls to my phone and B&S would put $$$$.$$ into my account every month, and a few of my fellow mice spuds would do the same; then all of you could have the fast accurate verbal tech support over the phone you expect when you pay out your $$$$.$$ SMA sacrifice each year, instead of having to type your problem and wait 5-30 mins for someone to post an answer. Yeah right, uh-huh. Any one want to buy some slightly used discount stuff from New Orleans? I promise it is a better deal than 4.0!!!

That sounds like a fine idea Wes! Could the rest of us get footy pj's too?

I could get into some speed racer!
