Open the envelope. Remove the contents. Open the CD case. Remove the CD. Put the case somewhere you'll remember as it can be put to good use later on (I use mine for toting burned CDs around. You may dispose of the software CD any way you wish. I threw mine in the garbage as I already have enough coasters. There have been some neat suggestions as to how you can employ the CDs but for me the garbage was only an arms length away and seemed logical.

o.k. everyone is bashing 4.0 but what is wrong with it. you all seem to think it is junk but why? I have used it for over 2 months now, if there is something wrong that I am missing I would like to know. Is it the reporting? It is actually kind of nice once you get used to it (at least it works nice for us). I'm just curious as to what is so wrong with it.

Do you use iterative alignments? Have you noticed that not all of your dimensioned out items are not showing up in your report? Have you noticed any funny stuff with regards to move/clearplanes? Like the probe running into the part? Have you been thrown out for no reason? Have you tried to do a rlearn/nominals scan?
These are some of the problems I came up with on 4.0 in just a few hours of use. Now 4.1 is doing me pretty good.

when in command mode cursor position didn't update the XYZ coords when passing thru some alignments

when in break pt mode fly isn't active

cursor shows hourglass for no apparent reason(which makes you think its thinking LOL)....until it is moved to another location

we do not use itereative alignments so I have no issue there. All the dimensioons are showing up that I have noticed I'll keep a close eye on that but have not noticed any problems. The clearplane seems to work the same as it always has. We do not do scaning so that is not an issue with us here. thanks for the information. I'll keep an eye on it but for us it seems to work fine. I was wondering why it was being slammed. If I had to use those features and had those problems I would most likely be saying don't use it also. thank you for the explanations

My theory is that if you purchased an SMA, the contract states that you will get a global upgrade each year. So they send you one, good or bad. We've discussed this before but I would much prefer to get a good, stable, well checked update occasionally than something that has obvious problems. At the least, I would rather they sent the mr1, 2, or 3 that has fixed any issues, but it's been explained you must ask or download those.
