I just got 4.0 in the mail, is it worth installing? Anyone had better luck with this version than 3.7mr3? I have not had much trouble at all with 3.7mr3 and would hate to "upgrade" into problems
TIA

Just last week someone posted that B&S tech support advised *AGAINST* using VER4.0. James Mannes who is a beta tester gave up on 4.0 and is using 4.1beta I believe. I would not use 4.0.

I use 4.0, but mostly. It seems to work for me. But I had NO history! I started on 4.0, and I am still on 4.0. I decided I needed 4.0 because of the elegant way it handles complex feature control blocks.
I went through a lot of issues. Many pilot error. Too many not. I was not impressed. 4.0 is doing the job for me now, but I am still annoyed by what I had to go through. I guess that goes with the territory if you volunteer to test something....

Technically, I am not a BETA tester. I am just a foolish guy who likes to see what the newest stuff has to offer. I am using 4.1 for about 1.5 weeks full time and have had very little trouble with it. It seems to be relatively stable, and I have not seen any big bugs. All 3 shifts have been instructed to use 4.1 for now (until we see some sort of monster bug that will make us revert to 3.7MR3.
Note the change in naming structure from 3.7MR3 to 4.0 and now 4.1. Nothing major, but they will not have MR releases any more. it will be .1, .2, .3 etc. etc..
Actually James, I did note the change and was wondering how the heck you got your hands on 4.1 if there hadn't even been one maintenance release for 4.0--got my answer now I guess.
We just received the 4.0 also, and I have it tucked away in a very safe place--where no one will find it and subsequently ask me why I haven't installed it yet.....
Based on what I have heard, I will not use 4.0 at all.

4.0 is not buggy, but it has quirks that I am sure B&S called improvements that are hard to understand. The GD&T callouts in moy opinion need explanation. They give significantly different readings that the old way of dimensioning the same test block.
