  • Measuring dimensions off CAD MODEL

    Just wondering,

How do you all measure the actual CAD model and dimension it? I manually take hits on features and dimension it. Otherwise auto features don't tell me what the actuals are. Doing this all OFFLINE not measuring any parts.

Thats what i do when writing off-line using model. I click on feature in question and then dimension. I'm not sure you would want to do it any other way.

My situation is a little more complicated than what I explained Chris. I'm using an exported CAD file that the CAD guys have altered to see what the change would be on dimensions (ie. best fit circles, roundness). These are not necessarily 3D CAD files and I don't have scanning capabilities on our CMM, just using manual TTP scanning. This was to see how anyone else does their dimensioning.

Not everyone uses CAD all the time.

Chris there are plenty of forum's out there in the world that will tolerate malicious flamming. This is not one of them. If you are so knowledgable about this software and cmm inspection, why don't you post a concise and thorough answer to the question. If you want to throw insults around, step on into the off topic forum and let's see what you can take.

Don't mind the Junior Member. He just sits back and listens until he knows something you don't (which is rare) then calls you dumb
