  • PC-DMIS 4.0

We got a new CMM and installed V4.0. All previous programs were done in 3.7. We have parts that I measured using the Square Slot function and they are on an Angle, not 90,90. When it goes to measure them it does not measure it correctly. Is there a way to get it to measure correct so I do not have to take points to get the center of the slot, or does the square slot function not work.

Did your hit vectors change when you opened up the program in 4.0? Hopefully you have a copy and still have 3.7 loaded--if so, check and make sure that all nominals/vectors etc. are the same. Start with the basics, and if nothing has changed, then I would suspect maybe something's not right with 4.0? The bad news is, that I have not heard good things on 4.0 so it would not surprise me if that's where your problem is.
Hopefully one of the gurus here will know a little more, but I think it would also help to know machine type, probe type etc....

Give me an example of your angles used and I will try to recreate in 3.7MR3 and then run it in 4.1 and we'll see what I get? I can probably do this Sat. morning if you can reply by then (before 9:00am cst).

What I had done when the slot did not check right is delete it and try to re-create it and it still did not work. Here are the vectors .71 - 0 - .71, 0 - (-1) - 0. They had worked fin in 3.7 but not in 4.0.

          Tim,
I won't be able to work with that particular problem until later in the week. I know that doesn't help you but that's the best I can do. I would say that I probably will find the same thing as you though. Have you reported this to BNS yet? If not I would at least it may be fixed by 4.2?
