  • flashing probe in graphics display window

    Any idea why my probe is flashing in the graphics display window? I tried a search for this and nothing came up. My program begins with a tp20_2 by 30 then i enter in a loadprobe command to change to a tp20_1 by 20. I calibrated the probe then tried to measure an auto circle. The probe was about 1mm away from the surface it was trying to measure. Could the probe calibration file be causing this? HELP!

    If anyone has time, please take a look at my code. I am 100% sure that the 1by20 is a 1by20. no extensions. All of my hits off the cad model are about 1mm off and I am about to go insane. I'm trying everything I can to get this to work including calibrating it many times. Anyways, here is the code.

      Does the 1mm "problem" start after the probe change?
      Or is it happening before that?
      Lately, it occurs to me

        the 2x30 runs everything just fine. Once i change the probe to the 1x20 the hit points are off by 1mm.

          now i am almost positive that it has something to do with converting the probe file to the latest format. My reasoning: I added a 10mm extension to the 1x20 making it a 1x30. I selected an older version (3.7) probe file and instead of converting the probe file to the latest format, i said no. Then i tried measuring an auto-circle and IT WORKED! So does anyone think that I should delete all of my old probe files or what? so frustrating

            Sounds like you have a problem with one of them.
            Start with recreating that one and test the other ones.

              i just tried deleting the old tp20_1x20 probe file. Then i built a completely new probe file for the 1x20. I added my angles, re-calibrated them and tried to measure another auto-circle. STILL, the probe is off by 1mm. unbelievable. if only i knew what dmis was thinking....

                i have solved my problem! dont know how, but i did. I think it fixed itself once i recalibrated my other 2x30 probe in the program. sheeeeesh

                    Thank you James for that information. I knew most of that information already, but there are a few things in there that I didnt know. I found what i believe to be the problem. The first probe that was used to obtain my part alignment wasn't tightened all the way which probably caused the 1mm off problem when i loaded my 1x20 probe. I'll someday learn not to make such a nooob mistake.
