In recent dealings with BrownandSharpe, I have been told that the latest version is 3.7mr3. Does this jive with what you have been told? It seems that the SMA people are not too sure as to what version is the latest, as I had to call techsupport to get the real deal.

Perhaps that is the latest your SMA covers? 4.0 is out (procede with caution) and 4.1 is being tested by the guinea pigs.<internet bumper sticker goes here>Comment

I resemble that remark.
I ahve been playing with 4.1 when I have a free moment, but, I have to stop now due to an extremely bad bug. Certain move/clearplanes do not work in 4.1 as they do in 3.7mr3. Luckily I was watching when this occurred, otherwise bad things could have happened. This has been reported to the proper authorities and tickets were issued.
Just an FYI for people.sigpic

For years and years and years, Wilcox has 'released' the new versions on their web site as soon as Wilcox gets them 'done'. B&S gets these releases at the same time, then puts them through 'testing' before releasing them to the poor saps who use it. SO, just because it is available on the Wilcox site does NOT mean that it is the most current B&S release of the software, and B&S are the ones who do the support, NOT Wilcox, so you would be well advised NOT to use a version that B&S is not doing the TECH SUPPORT on.sigpic

I was told to NOT try 4.0 at all but to wait for 4.1 to be officially released.
Thanks again.sigpic

Our SMA is current, and we have not recieved 4.0. I don't know either, but I think I will wait a bit before moving to 4.1. Hopefully in the next 30 days we will see if 4.1 gives us some good stuff.
So, could I say that 4.0 is unsupported?

No, 4.0 is a released version. I received my frisbee the other week directly from BNS aftermarket services (withouit requesting it). Hence, it is a released versionsigpic

I actually just got off the phone with the tech sup manager and was told that all new machines are shipping with 4.0.
I was also told that the main problems with 4.0 were people getting used to the new reporting templates and the new GD&T. According to tech supp you can toggle between the new GD&T and the old. For the reporting you can use the default template which is the like the text only reports in the older versions.
I am waiting on a request for a Quadro card before I load up 4.0.
Has anyone tried 4.0 with a lower end Geforce card?? (GF FX5200)Comment

If your SMA is current, are you automaticlly sent the newer version or do you
have to request it?Comment

We just update our SMA at the end of June and they sent us version 4.0. I installed our offline version on my laptop ran into some issues with edge points and the recall view being grayed out. I have a call into tech support but have not had a response.B & S XCEL 7-10-7
