  • Scan with TP20?

So I need to do a patch scan to create a surface on a part and do a profile of surface dimension. The reference manual leads me to believe that all I need to do a DCC scan is a TTP. I am using a PH6/TP20. I talked to a B&S tech and he thought I couldn't scan with a TP20, but I saw a thread somewhere on here mention otherwise. Can anyone verify that? The scan submenu won't even give me the option of any DCC scans, even if I tell it I'm using an SP600 for example (which I don't have). What's up with that?

    Piffle!!!

You can and we do TTP scans with TP20. Patch, UV, Linear Open, etc, etc.
Obviously it will be slower than with an SP25 etc, but hey. take ya time!!! and chill!!

I wonder why I'm not getting the option in the scan menu? When I'm in manual mode, I have the manual scans as options. But when I'm in DCC mode, the entire menu is grey. Is there a setting somewhere?

What version of Pcdmis do you have and what options do you have?

If you have just basic Pcdmis, scanning might not be part of your package.

P-DMIS CAD V3.7. Not sure what option package we may have. I kind of thought it might be something more money could solve. At least we have the hardware.

Well, with Pcdmis open, look at the very top of the Pcdmis window and it will tell you. Mine says "PC-DMIS CAD++ 3.5 Release" at the moment. I am using V3.5, no MR.

                    Hello,
I don't think that that is the problem. Is your cmm a manual or dcc? If it is dcc, then you should at least be able to perform a linear scan. But with B&S tech telling you that you can't scan with a TP20,,,,that is nonsence. It just does a probing type scan and this can be done with a TP2 also. The PH6 may be part of the problem. I have not used one of these and can't say for sure. I'am pretty sure that a scan will not be available in manual mode.

I think you are right. I think ++ gives you scanning capability. So assuming that I can't convince the boss man to fork over the dough for ++, how can I handle surface profile callouts with PC-DMIS? Should I just do a profile of a line instead? I just looked at the print for another part I have to do, and its full of surface profile callouts. Most of them are to | -A- @MMC (Thickness of part) | -B- @MMC (Hole)| C (Line) | These profile dimensions don't give the option to use datums, not to mention the ability to apply material condition. Any ideas on how to handle this?

I have regular v3.7MR1 CAD and I don't have the option of doing scans in DCC . Is this a module? or CAD++ feature?
I used to be high on life but I built up a tolerance.

You need CAD++ to have the option to do scannings.

Also to be in DCC mode to have menu active.

Hope you get the money for CAD ++!
