  • Scanning Question?

    SP-600 Global 3.7MR2.
I am trying to scan using customer program. Everthing runs good until I reach the scanning portion of the program. The portion of the part being scanned is undersize compared to Cad by 1.0mm. It goes through the motions of scanning but does not touch the part (Follow Cad or original scan?). How do I get the scan to follow and measure undersize part?

    Scanning

Does the check distance have anything to do with scanning? I do some scanning with an sp600 but I haven't had a problem finding the part even though it is shaped differently. I wouldn't mind learning some more about it myself.

It may be the fact that the scan is set to defined versus relearn. Try F9'ing the scan and changing the setting mentioned above.

I think I use Find Nominals and Relearn. That sounds about right. I don't use my SP600 very often and have to relearn it myself. Do you scan often Mr. Mannes?

At my machine (BNS 9-15-9 Chameleon) I have a TP20 with 3 modules and I have the SP600 with four caps. I mainly use the SP600 because I can get to everything I need with the caps set up the way I do. We have had the SP600 for the last 5 years and have not had to replace it yet. I utilize the SP600 mainly because when I program I can contact scan whenever I want and not have to switch probes. I do alot of scanning. Every program that I write usually has at least 1 scan in it. Most have several scans, if not dozens.

Yes. You can adjust the check distance to touch the part with scanning also

Sorry, but this scan is a circle scan. And does not have the relearn option? Anything else to try?
The check distance does not appear to work for this application.
This is a customer program that I would like to be able to use (that apples to apples thing).

                  try this........?

                  1. make sure in the circle scan that the diameter is correct.

                  2. you could make a linear closed relearn scan of the circle, then construct a circle from that scan.
