  • Report Print to File - not working

    Morning all,

    So, I start up my computer this morning and I find that I cannot print. So the "IT" guy comes down and gets me setup - I can print again. Now I try to continue an inspection job from last week. I had it setup to print the report to a file. But now PCDMIS sends the file to the printer instead. My print setup page is still the same, the check box for file is on, and the checkbox for printer is not.

    what gives?

    Here's something else I just discovered, the PCDMIS 250 converter in my printers folder doesn't have a driver installed anymore.

    Any ideas on how to fix that?

      File/printing/report window print setup

      1. Check mark file
      2. Prompt
      3. Rich text format
      4. Press on the button after where you had checked file. a window will open and you can tell it where you what to send it.
      5. after you run your part a prompt window will open letting you put in a name of the file you what to use. It will also let you place the file in the place you have already told it or another place.

      If you do not want it to print to printer each time unmark.

      You can put a if statement and printer comand at he end of program in case you want it to print. In printer command turn printer on.

      C1 =COMMENT/YESNO,NO,do you want to send report to printer
      IF/C1.INPUT=="YES"
      PRINT/REPORT,EXEC MODE=END,$
      TO_FILE=OFF,AUTO=1,$
      TO_PRINTER=ON,$
      TO_DMIS_REPORT=OFF,FILE_OPTION=OVERWRITE,FILENAME= ,$
      REPORT_THEORETICALS=NONE,REPORT_FEATURE_WITH_DIMEN SIONS=YES,$
      PREVIOUS_RUNS=DELETE_INSTANCES
      END_IF/

        You can download CUTE PDF writer for free and use this to create PDF files instead of the PC DMIS converter.

          This is how I have it set up. There something with the PCDMIS converter that's not working right, I think.

          CUTE Pdf did work, but the files are twice as large as the ones made with PCDMIS.

          thanks

                I always save as rtf files. Did you check printer setup to make sure you have it to the converter. I do not use that either I use Adobe's Acrobat Distiller. You need to buy the solfware but I have never had a problem.

                  One way to get the drivers installed is through reinstalling PC-DMIS, I believe.

                  Also, if you extract the contents of the zip file of the version you installed from (or go to the CD that contains the installation program), there's a PDF submenu. I think rerunning Install.exe from there will re-install the drivers... I think.

                    +1

                    There was a pdf folder in the zip file, and there was an install program for the printer driver. Thanks for the info, everything is back to normal.

                    Thanks for the help everyone!!!
