  • Handcuffed to the CMM

I want my license of PC-DMIS to be like all my other software licenses. Why am I handcuffed to my machine why can’t I check out my license of DMIS to a laptop or another computer and program off line from anywhere I want? Instead I have to purchase an off line seat for $14,900.00 just to be able to program away from the machine.
This is the same for Data Page why can’t my coworker be using Data Page while I’m programming? Brown & Sharpe wants $1,500.00 for another seat of Data Page and I’m not even using the one I have while programming.
I would pay a small premium for this function but $14,900.00 come on guys how can I justify this purchase. I don’t want to use the software multiple places at the same time I just want to be able to use the software wherever whenever without dragging my CMM with me.

$14,900!!!!!!!!!! I had no idea. Double that and you can just buy a machine with PCDMIS on it. Holy cow I had no idea they want $14,900. I should have known though. I was going to have it quoted for next year's capitol expenditures. I won't bother now, I know there is no way my company would pay that.

      I agree completely!!

solidworks alows a single copy per paid license from what i'm told, just for the reasons you describe. They are a large Co. and see through the issue we are up against.

        A bit of a fix

        Joe,

You could install 3.5 on a laptop and rename one of the files per one of the postings on the old site. This would give you a workaround back to 3.5 which isnt too bad. I totally agree....machine doenst work.....you are out of luck!!!!

            Tim,
The software still needs to see the dongle. You can't use without. All the renaming does is allow you to work on a program at the same machine that has the dongle on it. Which isn't so bad.

If the thumbdrive is nothing more than a usb dongle than I would still need my CMM conected to run DMIS.
