  • Is anyone here attending the Advanced PC-DMIS Training in Cincinnati, OHIO ?

I was just curious if anyone here attending the Advanced PC-DMIS Training in Cincinnati, OHIO the last week of June. My ******** just gave me permission yesterday to attend. The following two weeks after returning from class I will be on vacation. A few cases of beer later, I just wonder how much I will retain ? ? ?

Is this the one where they actually teach scripts? If so I need to start begging now. I can write in VB, but I would like formal instruction in the libraries of the PC-DEMONS.

          I wish.....

I've been trying to "formally" attend advanced training for years......But it's all about money, money , money and time lost. So like alot of us, we wallow about the software on company time for eons with the universal question of "ARE YOU DONE YET?" in our ears from management and actually end up "teaching ourselves" what we need to know. Sound familiar anyone?.....Whatever they teach you, please share and give us some insight on what they're offering...good trip...learn much...and the rest of us will keep that beer of yours cold....but it may not be intact upon your return....-B-

            LOL, sounds GOOD!

I am well aware of that ARE YOU DONE YET statement... It's actually kind of a inside joke between a few of us in the CMM lab here, not to mention the newest one we've gotten a kick out of: "THIS IS TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE, MY MACHINE HAS BEEN DOWN ALL DAY..."

Over the past 11 years here I think I've gotten used to it. I've outlasted all of them so far. I've been through at least six ********* that I can think of...

Yep ! It used to be in Cincinnati, but now they have relocated to Miamisburg (near the Dayton Mall)...

The advanced class does cover alot of flow control and branching statements, but, I just attended one last month in Elgin and we spent a good portion of one of the days working from the basic script editor and working on the reference libraries. It was pretty helpful, I picked a few new tricks, but for the most part it was flow control stuff.

There is a seperate VB class that is like 5 days or something that they told me is offered in Elgin. I don't know if that one is available at the other locations or not, but I do know they have it there. I have actually turned in a request for that one as there is supposed to be one next month sometime. I hope the bosses let me go!

Amen! Actually, about 3 years ago, after watching BAND OF BROTHERS, I was inspired to coin a phrase for our place...it's basically a war cry:

                      GO! GO! GO!

Kinda imparts a "blast-out-of-the-boat-and-hit-the-beach-running-neverminding-the-stupidity-of-what-we're-doing" sort of feeling.

I now include a .wav file with that battle cry into the program after the initial alignment!

Well, it's the third day of class and...

I still haven't learned anything new. Hopefully by Friday my company will get its $2000 worth...
