  • SNAP........OFF

How do I PERMANANTLY switch SNAP off??? Version 3.7r....even when switched off for 1 point, it's back on for the next!! Settings editor does not have this option, I have been pointed towards the Registry via REGEDIT, but the words ' Needle' and 'Haystack' pale into insignifficance. Suggestions are welcomed!!

Slinky, I have been told by B & S Tech, that this is "Hard Coded" and not a user option.

B&S is full of BS. In V3.5, it was on, all the time. In V3.7, MR3, it is off. I want it on, so I have to check (one more thing in a very long list of things to check) everytime to make sure I have turned it back on, after all these years of it being ON all the time. Thanks, B&S.

No guarantees, but try checking/adding the following registry keys that look like they *might* be what you're after:

          WAI\PC-DMIS\AutoFeatures\DccSnap - ensure set to "0"
          WAI\PC-DMIS\DMIS\DMISUseSnap - again, ensure set to "0"

I tried one of those(DMISUseSnap), didn't know the same function was in the registry twice!

Using the SETTING editor for Pcdmis V3.7, MR3, I tried BOTH suggested 'sections' with 1 and both with 0, I saved each setting as I changed it and Updated the regestry as well. Nether setting changed the SNAP, it was defaulted to OFF both ways.

However, when I go back to V3.5, it is still defaulted to ON for snap points.

Looking at our support database, it implies that a change was made around V3.7 so it only allows default on after you've got your alignment setup. This could explain why it won't default on on occasions.

I just got done trying it the other 2 ways, no luck. So, all 4 ways, snap is defaulted as OFF.

                  DccSnap
                  DMISUseSnap

Options for use of these 2 options are: 1,1 or 0,0 or 1,0 or 0,1. None of these turns SANP on in the DCC Vector window when a new program is created in V3.7 MR3. this has always been an ON option in the past, but now it is an OFF. What version are you using that it is always ON?

New program, both options set to 1 (that IS the on, isn't it?), alignment made, DCC on, snap option is off in DCC Vector point, even after save, close, and re-open.

Yes, 1 is on. I'll log it into our support database as a bug.

Matt, I have some more information on this. It is working as expected for me, although I'd admit it could be "smoother"

This was tried in V40R (by a colleague) and V41 by myself.
                        1.) Run up pcdmis.
2.) New program, import hex block,
3.) Measured Plane, Line, Point. Created alignment.
4.) AutoVectorPt, turned on "Snap". Hit Create
                        5.) Close Program, Close PCDMIS.
6.) Restarted PCDMIS,re-opened program. Moved cursor to bottom.
7.) Opened the AutoVectorPt dialog. Snap was checked by default.

The bit in bold is the most important if you want snap to stay on. If you open an auto feature dialog for a feature that needs snap, and you are not below a valid alignment, then snap will go back to being off.

I've logged an enhancement request so that we don't do this, as I can see this being a pain in the proverbial.

Well, I am using V3.7 MR3 and don't expect to be using V4 anything for awhile yet, but, glad to see something is being done about it.

                            What Machine?

Thanks for the replies all, the machine in question in a Steifelmeyer MANUAL side arm. So......the DCCSnap is of relevance....I have yet to check on the Registry settings. The default is set so that the tick is ALWAYS in the Snap box on vector points. As it is a Manual CMM, if you F9 on the vector point, turn SNAP OFF and re-measure the point, it won't be in the same place!! So this is NOT the solution. If I F9 on a point, turn snap off, it turns itself on again for the next one!! Bless it!!! So, i'll try the suggestions, but cannot promise this issue will not raise it's ugly head......AGAIN!!!!! TA TA!!
