  • 3.7MR3 install problems

    I've recently installed 3.7MR3 in a new directory and left the old MR2 directory intact until AFTER I installed the new one. Once it appeared to me that the MR3 was working I startedmoving part program files, and CAD files from the old directory into the new one.
    Things are now weird.
    When I start up MR3, and click FILE/NEW and name it, the program is defaulting to the MR2 directory for saving the new program, and choosing its probe files.
    I tried simply moving the newly created PRG file to the directory of MR3 and reopening it, but the program shows NO probe files, NO tools defined.

    I am so puzzled as to what I have done, and what I need to do to correct it.

    I tried to go to control panel and Uninstall MR2, but I get a dll error and the entire operating system freezes up.

    HELP!!!

    You need to change your search path. Start up MR3 and under edit select set search path so you can change where PC-DMIS looks for these files.

      hmmm

      well, I changed to path to the correct directory, but when I create a new program, I still have no tools defined. When I open a program I created YESTERDAY with MR3, everything is fine. But anything new is weird.

        When you set your search paths you have to do it for all the files you want. Programs, Probes, etc all the options are there. Make sure you click the save button before doing each search path or it wont save.

        ::edit::
        if memory serves I believe when you fire up a probe that was used on the old MR you will be asked to update your probe files to the new version.

          It has gotten a little better

          I am now able to start new progs and use two of my 4 probe files. The 2 that I can't use, I had to rebuild. I don't need them in my current prog, so next time I do a probe calibration, I'll make sure I get them done at the same time. So far so good. Thanks for your help. I knew it was a pointer/path problem but I had no idea where to go to correct it. Thanks again!!
