    Hey guys,
this may sound like a easy question, but I am new to programming automotive stampings with pc-dmis. I used to program medical devices and implants. Anyway my question is if you use sample hits when checking features such as circles, cylinders, etc... does the depth that you set in the autofeature window apply from the location of the sample hit, or does it apply from the keyed in nominal location in the X,Y, Z boxes of the autofeature window.

    thanks in advance

It is derived from the measured sample hit(s).

Turn on the view probe axis window and you will notice after taking sample hits that it will compensate for variances in the heights.

I don't like using sample hits so usually I use DCC alignments and use a plane instead with 0 sample hits. If you are measuring a "can" then you will have to play around with the spacer value etc.
I used to be high on life but I built up a tolerance.
