  • Pierce Point Problems

    Hello Everyone,
We need some help with getting our pierce point function to work properly. We are measuring surfaces on cast aluminum wheels. The Y axis is set on the top of the rim (face) X and Z is set on the inside of the lip of the rim. We are measuring lines in Y+ and trying to intersect them with the Y axis plane. PCDMIS says that the math does not intersect/converge. Any ideas what's going on here? We are not using CAD to get the dimensioning and the surfaces should in reality be able to intersect. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Let me see if I understand this.....You are constructing a point by selecting a Line (in -Y- axis) and a Plane, right???.......What workplane are you in?......It seems to me that you should be in the XPLUS workplane when you construct this point. I'm just thinking out loud here.......Make sure you are selecting a Line and a Plane to construct the pierce point.....
If none of this works, maybe try intersecting two lines....but make sure your in the XPLUS workplane when you do this.

    Hope this helps,
    Doberman

      Thanks!

      Doberman,
Thanks for the help. We were finally able to get back on this project. We found out that we weren't measuring the dimensions in the right WP. Once we got that straightened out we were successful! We are trying to integrate PCDMIS as we go along. We only have one programmer who has been through the basic course. So it's hit n miss right now! We browse the forum all the time just to see what's giving everyone else problems. We learn A LOT here! Thanks again!
