  • PC DMIS to MM4?

Does anyone know if there is a converter to program in PC DMIS and convert to MM4? We have a CMM with MM4 that production uses, but I am not familiar with. I would like to be able to add new programs as we get new production jobs so we can keep my CMM free for first articles and prototypes, but having difficulties. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I don't think you can convert this way. Supposedly you can convert from MM4 to PC_Dmis, but not the other way around. I'm very fluent with MM4 so if you need any help programming let me know.

Can MM4 use DES files? If so, you can at least create the program in Pcdmis, export the DES file, import it into MM4 then you will have all the points/circles/slots w/ vectors to just program to.

Used MM4 for 9 years. loved it, hardly no computer crashes. Compared to PCDMIS they both have the pro and cons. Being ran with unix it was very stable. Need any help let me know and I will try and work with you.

AuRules, for $5500 you can get the MM4 legacy bundle for your pc-dmis. It's great, no unix commands, all basic windows commands and the MM4 code is all the same. It uses notepad as its editor. If you can convince your company to spend the money it would be a great way to verify measurements by writing part programs in both softwares.

Don't knock it until you've tried it. Blows unix away!!!! And further. I am a true MM4 programmer. Used unix version for years. Loved it until I was forced to learn the demon, which I'm still struggling with. Now, with the windows version of MM4, I can't imagine why Hexagon doesn't continue to develop it. Perhaps they fell upon perfection, and needed job security so they came up with the devil himself.

You can still use VI if you so desire. UNIX is a wonderful true multi-tasking OS.

                  Adam,
I will try to convince management to have the MM4 machine retrofited with pcdmis.
Same software on both machines less headaches.

                  Just my 2 cents.

                    Roberto,
I would love to do that, however we have hundreds of programs already in MM4 from production work this company has been doing forever. So I highly doubt I will be able to swing this one...

MM4 was at my last job. So when I came here they were running WinCmes on LK machines (pieces os sh**). Talked them in to upgrading to PCDMIS since MM4 is no longer supported, and from then to now I be fighting the demon in the octagon and I think he winning.
