  • nVidia Quadro FX 1400 Graphics Card

I'm considering purchasing this graphics card. Is anyone using it with Pcdmis or know if it is a good card for Pcdmis?

    Hi Jim,
I dont know yet. But I told them in the office I needed a minimum of that card to run Version 4 adequetly. I can tell you that every Nvidea card I ever got I was completely happy with

      good cards

I have a NVIDIA Quadro FX 500. It works great for me, but I do not use a lot of CAD files. When I do pull in a big CAD it takes a few seconds to process stuff, but it handles it. I have never heard anything but good about NVIDIA cards. HTH

          Jim,
          This is what I'm using...
          WIN XP
          OPTIPLEX GX270
          PENTIUM 4 2.4 GHz
          2.0 G RAM
          2 80 G HARD DRIVES
          SONY DVD BURNER
          SONY CD-RW
          NVIDIA QUADRO FX4000 VIDEO CARD
Works wonderfully with every CAD model I have opened in DMIS, Solidworks, etc. etc.

james was wondering what version of pc-dmis your using since there seems to be some new criteria for pc-dmis v4.0 graphics. and has anyone used a Gforce card (not recomended by wilcox) successfully with v4.0?

            edit: using CAD.

If you are asking me(jamesmannes), I am using 3.7mr3. This version runs very well . I will use 3.7mr3 until 4.1 has proven itself.

Have one on my computer. 3.7mr3 on a Dual Xeon 3.0 Ghz, 2gb of RAM and ample HD space. Runs Solidworks wonderfully, but PC-DMIS is pretty rough on the video card. Often when the graphic window refreshes the feature tags white out and won't update until I move them around or pan them off screen, then back on. It does this whether there are 5 tags or 50 on screen. I'm reasonably sure it's an issue with PCD, not my system. I got a lot of "out of resource" crashes as well until I switched to performance mode and DL'ed the hotfix.

I get that 'snow-blind white-out' thing too and my graphics card is an NVIDEA GeForce FX 5500, which is a pain since they have 'outlawed' the GeForce cards with V4.0, so I don't think it is your graphics card, I think it is Pcdmis (once again).
