    Default Auto save?

I see in the help files that you can activate auto save in the command window ( which I have no experience with the command window ), but it sounds like I would have to type this command in ever new program I open?

Then I also see in another help area that it shows an auto save check box, but it doesn't tell you where to find this checkbox.

My question is where can I find the checkbox and can I make it the default setting?

Not at work, so I don't remember where the check box is.
Autosave for PC-DMIS is sketchy at best. I use it, but I also CTRL-S frequently.
After almost ever feature, and anytime I am about to construct a feature. I also SAVE AS using varying names.
    IE. :PROGRAM_NAME_A, PROGRAM_NAME_B, PROGRAM_NAME_C etc.
This way, if you make a mistake you can go back a number of steps.
I used to use up to about F, but now just save between A and B.
When in doubt, post code. A second set of eyes might see something you missed.

Apparently it's something they did away with, or at least changed how it works, I don't know I haven't seen any files with the etra characters at the end......

Autosave didn't used to do that. I use v3.2063 and 2010.... Wonderful to know they changed it so I don't upgrade.
I said that's what I do. SAVE AS and incrementally change the last letter.
I don't care for the way Autosave works and this is my work around ( that I learned from Hoedeman.)

Well, I 'changed' my method. I open the folder where the program is stored and any time I want a safety, I simply do a copy & paste of the program. Nice thing is, it will automatically increment the name for you and it is a simple 2-key-stroke operation, CTRL-C & CTRL-V. First one is COPY OF <filename> then COPY (2) OF <filename> and so on. Single click on the program you are working on, and as long as you don't do anything else in the folder, that program stays highlighted, CTRL-C & CTRL-V BANG! another copy, BANG!, another copy.

Too often the AUTO SAVE has been a source of crashing and program loss, so most of the "expert" programmers have a way around it's use and leave it turned off, right John?

I second this as well Matt. I've made "Ctrl-S a good friend of mine, and also will have back-up copies made until the "final" program.
