I am using PC-DMIS version 4.1, mr-1. Need to inspect blade/blade twist. How can I using noted software? Note: After reading the forums can I come to the conclusion that without "Blade" software and training that it is almost impossible?

Thank you, CMM Corey

Blade is very "specialized". I've just started using it in December after going to a one-on-one training class in Huntersville NC. You need a "special probe tip", you have to set the part on the cmm a "special way", "special help files", etc., etc. There are many different techniques (per customer) to measuring Airfoil features, and Blade tries to accomodate them. So getting your many parameters set to match your B/P and specs will be very hard and time consuming, without the proper training. Good luck.

Measuring blades without the blade software is not impossible. However, you will have to struggle with measuring strategies and then interpreting the results. It will take you monhts if not years before fully understanding how to properly measure a blade on a CMM.

The blade software solves most of that. Yes, you will need extensive training and the software ain't cheap. But trust me, it is worth the money!

The blade software by B&S produces very pretty pictures and in all fairness, it will give answers to data processed. I tried using it way back when, when they first put it on the market. (3.5 floppies). It was so complicated it required them to practically re-write it especially for our particular application. We ended up not using it but writing our own. Once you have the data measured, you can get anything out of it that you need. From the date of your posting, you probably have this figured out by now. I'm new to this forum.

Sorry, didn't mean to resurrect a dead thread. We just had Blade installed last week and had the 1 on 1 training at our plant so I was perusing the blade forum...
