We have never used Datapage at all here, we do have licenses for it,
I opened it, browsed through some threads here....
I am looking for some basic instruction on how it works/ how to use it.
I am assuming I have to place a command in the PC D-MIS program to
export data to datapage, if so, perhaps someone can let me know the command to use.
I suppose I can do some SPC graphs/charts after more than one part is run.
But how do I fake running parts.
We only have licenses on the CMM PC's (no off-line).
How do I simulate running say ten parts with varying measured values
so I can check out how datapage works?

Here is what you can do to generate some playdata for learning with:
Open pc-dmis and select "open" from the drop down menu
Navigate to and select the program you want to open,
Before you press the enter key look just below the selection windows, you will see another small selection window that says "CMM1" use the down arrow and choose "offline" press enter
Now you can run the program any number of times. The CMM will not move, but the program will export data as it were a real run.
If you need more help doing this, send me a PM (Private Message)

Yes, you can.
While on off-line use: Operation/Send current stats to file.
Do it 10 times (Measurements are sent to DPage)
Then go into datapage/editor and manipulate the values for testing reports/charts.

Doing ti THAT way will NOT give him ANY variation in the readings and thus MANY of the SPC features will NOT give 'values' but 'errors'. Also, you don't need to be in OFFLINE to do that, you can be ONLINE as well.

Hi Matt,
That's why I said, go into editor and manipulate (change values).
He's just looking for fake running parts for testing datapage.
Am I right RussL?

Didn't read that close enough, however, for a newbie, who knows NOTHING about Datapage, saving, then editing might be harder to do than getting a report to pop up.

Thanks for all the help, However, I'm still having problems. I added the following:
STATS/ON,DATAPAGE,$
DIRECTORY=,$
READ=10,WRITE=20,MEMPAGES=4,DIMENSIONNAME,CONTROLC ALC_ON,$
STATS/END
after the DCC alignment,
I get the Database System Error: -127.
I deleted the XSTATS11.tmp file in the PC D-MIS directory, as other threads suggest,
but still get the Database System Error: -127
I tried setting the DIRECTORY= statement to a specific directory.
I tried setting the export directory to a specific directory.
Still no luck, What am I doing wrong?

The directory HAS to be set to the directory where the DB files reside. In a 'standard' install of Datapage, that will be:
C:\datapage\part

Well, The short command points to C:\DataPage for me.
But if I go there, there is no "Part" directory.
I changed the DIRECTORY=,$ statement in the program to DIRECTORY=C:\DataPage,$
I changed the export directory to the same.
I still get the error, I'm thinking when someone played with datapage a few years back,
maybe files were deleted that should not have been?
I'm trying to use Datapage 3.24 (I know it's up to 3.33 but getting that installed will take a while).
Perhaps Datapage 3.24 is not a good match for PC D-MIS V3.7 MR-2?

open windows Explorer
Create a folder where CMM data is to be stored
note do not make folder name to big: data page editor has a limit viewing area for name field
close explorer
Data Page Editor
Open Data Page editor Database > New Follow path to new folder created by window explorer
Click Ok and OK you have created a new data base.
CMM Program Near the beginning of the program
Click on "Insert - Statistics Command > Statistics A window pop up labeled "Statistics Options" will appear On the right side of the pop up you will find "Database Options"
Stats Options
Click on "On"
Database Options
Click on "DataPage"
DataPage Variable Name
Click on "Use Dimension Name" If you use Feature Name you can only tolerance that feature once If you tolerance feature twice it will over write the first. Database Directories Click on "Add Directory To List" There is a field labeled "Statistic Directory to Add" Click on the Gray Button "..." New pop up "Choose Directory" Click on the drive that the data will be saved on.
I created a folder on my C Drive labeled Datapage V# (Version number of data page) V3.32
This folder also can have sub folders.
Click on OK button.
The following example will appear
STATS/ON,DATAPAGE,$
DIRECTORY=C:\DATAPAGE V3.32\cmmdata,$
DIRECTORY=,$
READ=10,WRITE=20,MEMPAGES=4,DIMENSION NAME,CONTROLCALC OFF,$
STATS/END
Here is were the trace fields come in. Click on "Insert - Statistics Command > Trace Fields
Examples: TRACEFIELD/DISPLAY,LIMIT=15 ; Serial # : Unit 2
TRACEFIELD/DISPLAY,LIMIT=15 ; Chart# :8190330021
TRACEFIELD/DISPLAY,LIMIT=15 ; Print Rev :Rev 2 06DE25
You can add more for ease of use and tracking parts.
You Can also use Comment Inputs in Trace fields
COM_31PNT1 =COMMENT/INPUT,YES,'Input Ø31 PNT1 pre test height.' ASSIGN/VAR_36_7PNT1 = COM_31PNT1.INPUT TRACEFIELD/DISPLAY,LIMIT=15 ; Print Rev :VAR_36_7PNT1 RUN CMM Program OFF line send stats to datapage
Open Datapage Editor
View>Variable>Spread Sheet Editor
Select Parts to Edit
Click on Part #
Window will pop up with Left column in alpha Numeric order of dimensions
2nd column will be blank
3rd column will be Nominal
in the 2nd Column I type in a description of the dimension
Most of the time I Name the features in the CMM Program
then Copy and Paste the same into column 2
When completed EDIT>Save
Variable Sets
If Dimension order needs to be changed from the CMM Program Measured order
View>Variable Sets
Click on Part #
Variable Set Drop Down Meas_Order
Variable Set List Field will Show Dimensions in Measured Order
Variable List Field will be in alpha numeric Order
Click on New
Type name of new file
example "Inspection"
Variable Set List Field will be Blank
By clicking on dimensions in Variable List
Click on left Arrow
keep doing this till features you want to report are all in Variable Set list
Click on Save
Close window

Why don.t you try to but something useful that can help. You might need some help someday and everyone might answer you the same way. You could say, Hi I am new and don't know much and still a little child that has not grown up, but of course most children know every thing, So they don.t need answers to something you already know.
