Good Morning all
I came in to found a note from the night shift guy that he could access datapage.

So I opened up datapage and when I hit the dat report icon or any other for that matter I get this error message

"Unable to access database for read operation"

Anyone see this before or know what I have to do to access the database. I did try to reboot already but no help.

Check and make sure it is trying to read the correct database. If the path is correct and the database files are there, you're screwed (probably). At that point, you could try deleting the VISTA.TAF and LOCKMGR.DBL files from the database directory and see if that will let you back in.

Are your database files getting backed up properly?

Not sure but I will check it out. I do have one question our network is lagging big time today, though I would not think so does that have anything to do with it? I would ask IT but we do not have any, and I know how you despise them :-D

Well, open DPEditor, go to DATABASE / OPEN and check the path, make SURE that it matches EXACTLY where the database files are then look at the TIMEOUTS, you could try increasing them, my defaults are READ = 10 and WRITE = 20 with 64 papges of Memory.

Success I delete the files from the actual parts folder and that worked fine. I had originally deleted them from the datapage folder. Thanks Matt

Where the "PARTS FOLDER" is the folder WITH the database files, is that what you mean? You must have not quite got it from my first post, that is where I wanted you to delete those files from, where the dataBASE files are., PART is the 'default' datapage database storage directory.

Yes they are. I do not often get a lot of things but that is for a different thread
