View Full Version : 5 minutes to write a Romer CMM program with cad

Did anyone see that article in this month's Qulity Magazine about creating a Vision CMM program with cad in 5 minutes? I forget what software it was and any details but man did we get a kick out of that one... I'd go into more specifics but Mr. Henger put the magazine away before he went home (lucky dog he beat me out of here). HELLL, it takes me longer than 15 minutes sometimes just to import my cad model yet alone program with it. No wonder why my bosshole thinks I'm scrooging him half the time if he reads malarkey like that...

This is yesterday's news. Tomorrow you will be laid off b/c with inspection planner the engineers will generate the cmm program directly from the CAD model and there will be no need to pay a programmer at all.
By the way, I happen to have limited access to a huge pile of money, but I can't transfer it to myself, so if you send my your bank info. . .

YES, This is complete BS.
I really can't believe this.
Verisurf is the program, I use it everyday.
I think they s/b seeing this as a learning tool for future cmm operators you
learn alot but you are limited by its lack of features and flexibility.
I think it takes me about 5min just to verify the model.
30 min to apply the tol, they call it MBD.
yes it's easy when you only take surface pts, you don't have to worry about clearplane or having the ph10 rotated in the right direction. But when it comes to making a report or making it legible this thing sucks. It's just not as mature as a stationary CMM. the biggest drawback is being attached to the damm thing. An operator can be running 3+ CMM machines at the same time but only one romer.

That's kind of what I figured. Thanks for the great info...

HEY, rabbit ears are actually making a come-back in todays market. The digital broadcasts come in just fine on them and there is no satelight/cabel bill. In fact, once all the tv stations are changed over (forced to, by LAW), you will have lots of choice for viewing WITHOUT paying for it.

I have this antenna that is soppose to get HD definition. it does O.K. I'm not much of a TV watcher. Back in the day of dish network cards I had friends in low places:D:eek:
Do you know when the law takes effect Matt????

lots of choice for viewing
Haaahaaahaaahaaahhhaaaa!
Lots of choice I guess but no matter how many channels you get (broadcast, cable or satelite) there will almost never be anything on that is worth watching. Except of course for those rare occassions where something really, really good is going to be on but your wife already has plans for you to go visit your mother-in-law.

I think they are supposed to be all digital before the end of THIS decade, but i am thinking it was by 2008, but am not sure. This law was supposed to free-up band-width that the current analog telecasts fill up and they want to use them for other things, like police/fire/phone/etc. because the digital signal travels on a narrower bandwidth (as well as a different one), but this is all coming from some deep crevice in my mind, so I am not 100% sure of the facts.

Funny thing about the web site.....
DTV was the name of the TV channel in Shock Treatment, the 'sequal' to The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Denton TV. Now I got some of those songs going through my head...... (lots of room for them, they don't even bump into each other!)
