Matt you mentioned on the other board that mapping/comp may not be turned on.
what setting in the settings editor will turn the mapping on/off? :confused:
from what I see in mine, it is turned off at present.
thx,
bob

That will depend on the controller your machine has. For a Sharpe32 controller, there will be section titled SHARPE32, expand it. The 8th option down will allow you to enter the file name of the COMP.DAT file. Go ahead and enter it there. BUT, even then, you are NOT yet finished. The VERY LAST LINE in the Sharpe32 option list is VolCompMethod. Now, from what I have read on these boards, if you enter 14 for this option, Pcdmis looks for COMP.DAT for the comp file, so in theory it isnot required that you enter COMP.DAT for the file name. If you enter 1, it appears to tell Pcdmis to look for a comp file and then use it. IF you do enter 1 and IF YOU DO have COMP.DAT for the comp file name, then next time you run the settings editor, the value for VolCompMethod will have changed, ON IT'S OWN to 14. So, if you have a Sharpe32 controller and you have a comp file called COMP.DAT, the above is what you need to do to turn it on.

Thanks Matt,
My CMM is a Starrett RGDC, recently upgraged Starrett controller and now using PC-DMIS 3.7 MR2
what I found in the settings editor is this....
under ELMDRIVER
CompensFileName = comp.dat
VolCompMethod = 14
so using the "assume" logic, it appears to be turned on by what you pointed out in your reply. :confused:
thanks again,
bob
